Going back to basics

New personal website
This website is heavily inspired by Brian Lovin’s personal website. When I first came across it, I instantly inspired me to build a similar website for myself.
So I built it. It doesn’t have all the features such as an AMA page, comments and authentication. And that’s fine - it’s okay to keep things simple and then improve them slowly.
Tech Stack
This website is built with Astro - it’s a new framework that I’ve increasingly been more and more interested in. I can use this website as an experimental lobby to test out things. For example, how do you add authentication to Astro. THere isn’t a lot of information online, but it might be a good way to dig and see.
A place on the internet for me to be me
Over the last few years, I built several websites such as Full Stack Heroes (developer articles) and workcafes.london (reviews of indie cafes in London) but these websites are not me, but instead more of a “faceless persona”.
And that’s fine, but I also felt that I want to share more of my personal opinions. For example, I discover how to do something cool in code - I want to share it in my own words, instead of focusing on SEO and making it sounds unopinionated.
A new place to share thoughts, experiments and learnings
This personal website will be the place where I can come if I want to share something. To name a few:
- tried a new software that I want to review
- chat about success/failure from the freelance/agency journey
- build and grow a side project
Other random stuff
This layout is perfect for adding other things related to me:
- Tools/Stack
- Domain portfolio
- Photography
- Other hobbies
